BOX 3006
LODI, CA 95241-1910 MAY 21 1998
Re: CITY OF LODI PUBLIC SAFETY BLDG
230 ELM ST
LODI, CA 95240
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) has reviewed our Underground Storage Tank (UST) file for the
above-referenced site. A 10,000 gallon diesel UST was removed in September
1987 and soil samples collected beneath the UST did not reveal the release of
any contaminants from this UST. A 18,400 gallon diesel UST, which was
proposed to be closed in place in 1986, remains out of use and not properly
closed. Two monitoring wells were installed in October 1986 to investigate if
there had been an unauthorized release of petroleum from the 18,400 gallon
UST. One of the monitoring wells is located south of this UST which is generally
the groundwater flow direction in this area.
A 2,000 gallon dual walled UST was installed in August 1988 and removed in
October 1988 because it failed precision testing. Excavation of contaminated
soil from this UST occurred in December 1988 and soil sample results revealed
that contamination from this UST had been removed.
In a meeting at the site on February 26, 1998, PHS/EHD site mitigation staff
requested a copy of all the sampling and analytical data from the monitoring
wells since they were installed. PHD/EHD has not received any of the
information to date.
In a meeting at Lodi City Hall on May 13, 1998, PHS/EHD UST staff requested a
closure-in-place (CIP) proposal for the 18,400 gallon UST be submitted by June
4, 1998. In a conversation on May 19, 1998, PHS/EHD UST staff requested a
copy of all the sampling and analytical data of the monitoring wells be submitted
with the CIP proposal by June 4, 1998.
A Division of San Joaquin Counry Health Care Services
