A Groundwater depth Approximately 50'-60'
B Soil removed 0
C Excavation history: On 2/17/05, Jim Thorpe, Inc. removed one (1) 12,000 gallon
tank dual wall unleaded gasoline tank and one(1)2,000 gallon dual wall diesel fuel tank from
the rear parking lot of 230 W. Elm street in Lodi, owned by the City of Lodi. The diesel tank
Tested N/D. However, the BTEX portion for the diesel sample was over-looked and will be
resampled the day of the overex. One sample for the gasoline tank tested high for MTBE
(copy enclosed). The tanks were removed under the supervision of SJHS/EHD. Soil
sampling was done by GeoAnalytical Laboratories. The excavations were filled in with
materials on site and with imported pea gravel, road base and remain in that condition.
5. Re-excavation/resample: Due to the depth of ground water expected at approximately 50-60
feet, Jim Thorpe, Inc. and registered geologist Ground Zero feel the best method of clean up
will be re-excavation. The excavation shall be at the north and of the original gasoline tank
excavation.
6. Samples will be collected by a technician from Ground Zero and transported to Argon
laboratory for analysis. A signed release of information authorization is attached.
Actual excavation limits will be determined in the field based on conditions encountered.
7. The resulting re-excavation will be approximately 20'x20'x20' in depth. The amount of
material removed will be approximately 150 cubic yards of clean pea gravel, soil and 150
yards of suspected soil. The suspected soil will be placed on 6-mil black plastic and covered
with same. Soil disposition decisions can be made after amounts and contamination levels
are ascertained. Samples will be taken from the middle of the length of each sidewall.
Approximately 3 feet up from the bottom. At least one (1)floor sample below the high MTBE
result. Four(4) samples will be taken from the spoils pile for characterization. Soil samples 3
will be analyzed for TPH-gas BTEX and Oxygenated additives.
c
