i
PROBLEM ASSESSMENT REPORT & PROJECT STATUS REPORT OF
GROUND-WATER MONITORING
Village West Marina
6649 Embarcadero Drive
Stockton, California 95209
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This Problem Assessment Report and Project Status Report of Ground-Water Monitorins: was
conducted in accordance with the directives of the Environmental Health Division of the San
Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS-EHD). It includes a background assessment
history, description of Hydropunch' and monitoring well completion activities, ground-water
sounding and flow direction/gradient data since July 1994, and laboratory analytical results for
soil and ground-water samples collected on July 3 and 7, 1995.
1.1 Site Setting
The property is located at 6649 Embarcadero Drive in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California
and is situated on the delta levee of the section of the San Joaquin River called Fourteen-Mile
Slough as shown on the Vicinity Map, Figure 1. The site includes a restaurant and an
operational marina with the capacity to dispense fuel to pleasure craft. The adjacent properties
consist of other commercial businesses and residences.
1.2 Geologic Setting
The site is located within the delta region of the San Joaquin River on Fourteen-Mile Slough.
The surface elevation is about nine feet above Mean Sea Level (AMSL). The slough is situated
adjacent to the project area at an elevation below the former underground storage tank invert.
The lithology encountered during the drilling of three soil borings (prior to completion as
monitoring wells MW-4, MW-5, and MW-6)consisted predominantly of black-gray, micaceous,
organic clayey silt to the total depth in each well of approximately 30 feet below surface grade
(bsg). Ground water was encountered during the drilling process at about 18 feet bsg in the
borings. Generally, the quality of the water is considered poor.
W.W.
