SUMMARY AND COMMENTS
I .a On January 16 1996 the average depth to the water table underlying the project area was 14.05
feet, rising 1.58 feet since October 18, 1995. Using the three-point method, the calculated local
direction of ground-water flow on January 16 was approximately N77°E, a shift of 16° to the
north since October 18 when the calculated flow direction was S87°E. Overall, the flow
direction has remained easterly. The gradient has remained essentially unchanged during the
; .I
subject three-month period.
Ground-water samples collected from the five wells were received at Sherwood Labs on January
16, 1996. The analytical results revealed continuing nondetectable concentrations of TPH-g and
.:1 BTEX in samples collected from wells MW-4, MW-5, and MW-7. Also, no detectable gasoline
' analytes were detected in the sample collected from MW-8.
The results of the analyses of the sample collected from MW-6 indicate that the ground water
underlying that vicinity remains impacted, though favorably so, to a lesser degree. TPH-g and
benzene analytes still impact the ground water at concentrations exceeding the Maximum
Contaminant Levels (MCLs) set by the California Department of Health Services. TPH-g and
benzene have declined approximately 33% between October 18, 1995 and January 16, 1996.
Concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes have also declined dramatically,
falling further below their respective MCLs.
The next ground-water monitoring activity is scheduled for mid-April, 1996.
CERTIFICATION
Should any questions arise regarding the information contained in this report, or if we may be
of further service, please contact our Merced office at (209) 725-2085.
