The purpose of the
investigation was to provide you with information regarding the extent of contamination on
the Site due to the underground diesel storage tank removed from the former J.B. trucking
f
site located adjacent to and west of the subject property. The former tank was removed in
1997; soil samples showed 6,200 ppm diesel and groundwater samples showed 31 ppm
diesel. Our previous review indicated that no further action had been taken by the adjacent
property owners or by state and local agencies to assess ornitigate the detected
contamination. The purpose of this work was to provide yofu with information regarding the
'
concentrations of diesel fuel and lateral extent of the contaminants in the subsurface on the
subject property from the former tank.
SUBSURFACE SAMPLING
On October 25 and November 24 1999,Lush Geosciences, Inc. excavated trenches to
a maximum depth of approximately 10 to 12 ft to assess soil and groundwater conditions at
the site. The trenches were located in near proximity to the former tank, based on sketch
maps from the adjoining properly. Soil samples were collected from depths of 8 ft and 10 ft,
and corresponded to discolored zones in native soil with a diesel odor.
