07 February 2006
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0360
Page 4 of 7
• Laboratory analysis of samples;
• Preparation of a report of findings.
The tasks are discussed below.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable access agreements and site assessment permits will be obtained from the EIID. In
addition,an update to the site health and safety plan presently on-file will be prepared in accordance
with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities
(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, the proposed probe boring will be
clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. PROBE BORING ADVANCEMENT AND SAMPLE COLLECTION
AGE proposes to advance four soil probe borings using direct push technology. All of the borings
will be advanced to depths of approximately 15 feet bsg; the proposed probe boring locations may
be modified due to field observations.The proposed probe boring locations are presented below and
on Figure 2:
• One boring approximately 80 feet southwest of EW-1;
• A second boring approximately 80 feet southerly of EW-1;
• A third boring,approximately 25 feet east of EW-1,on the west side of the warehouse at 315
Enterprise Place and
• A final fourth boring,approximately 165 feet east of EW-1,on the east side of the warehouse
at 315 Enterprise Place.
As each boring is advanced,soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg
and extending to the total probe boring depths. In addition, grab ground water samples will be taken
in all borings at first encountered ground water. Field procedures for advancement of probe borings
and collection of soil and ground water samples are presented in Section 4.1.
Advanced GeoEnvironmenta[,Inc.
