LOGGING
Soil was extruded from a second brass sleeve and was screened for the presence of or vapor
using an organic vapor meter (OVM) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID: Then-no
Environmental 580A, 10.0,eV, calibrated to isobutylene);the OVM readings were recorded on the
boring log. The soil was then visually described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification
=- System (see Appendix A).
2.3. WELL COMPLETIONS
Pilot borings MW1 through MW5 were completed as groundwater monitoring wells using two-inch
diameter PVC casing with 0.020-inch slotted screen installed from approximately 5 feet to 20 feet
bsg in borings MWI, MW3, MW4 and MW5 and from approximately 30 feet to 35 feet bsg in
;: 1 '• __r boring MW2 and with blank casing extended to the surface of each well. Pilot boring EW1 was
completed as a ground water extraction well using six-inch diameter PVC casing with 0.020-inch
slotted screen installed from approximately 5 feet to 20 feet.
The filter packs (No. 3 Lonestar sand)were installed from approximately 4 feet bsg to 20 feet bsg
I .
in wells MW1,MW3,MW4,MW5 and EWI and from 28 feet bsg to 35 feet bsg in well MW2. A
I; ; nominal 2-foot or 3-foot bentonite chip plug was then installed above the filter packs and hydrated.
The wells were then grouted to near the surface with portland cement, and water-tight,traffic-rated
well boxes were installed over the wells. As-built well diagrams are depicted on the boring logs in
-._ Appendix A. .
; 1
2.4. LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES
3 Selected soil samples were analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Method 5030/8015 Modified and 3550/8015 Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8021; and
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
