processing facility and may be useful for determining background groundwater
conditions.
Recently, the Discharger installed a reverse osmosis unit to replace their water softening
unit, and reduced the number of cleaning cycles, resulting in better quality wastewater with
a specific conductance of 1,530 µmhos/cm, down from 2,200 µmhos/cm. This
improvement notwithstanding, the water supply specific conductance before use by the
Discharger is in the range of 470 µmhos/cm to 660 [mhos/cm, so there is approximately
a three-fold increase in water mineralization. The Discharger investigating a separation
of the acid/caustic cleaning waste stream from the rest of the wastewater and manage it
by contracting with an off-site disposal firm.
These waste discharge requirements contain a time schedule for additional groundwater
monitoring wells, preparation of an Operation and Maintenance Plan with an integral
cropping plan for the land application areas, an evaluation of separation of the
caustic/acid cleaning solutions from the wastewater system, improvements to the land
application areas, and addition of pH control equipment at the treatment system.
C\Pmject_Fil,ASim\Cd Nar_P dueu\INF0.d.
