(KLKL E/NFELOER
Bright People Fight Solutions.
1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report details the results of the first quarter 2015 groundwater monitoring at the California
Natural Products (CNP) facilities in Lathrop, California. The work was authorized by Mr. Lynn
Forcum of CNP of Lathrop, California. This monitoring report is required by the Central Valley
Region of the State of California Regional Water Quality Control Board's (RWQCB) Revised
Monitoring & Reporting Program No. R5-2003-0141.
Groundwater samples were collected for laboratory analysis during the first quarter of 2015
from three monitoring wells in the McKinley Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area (MARIA), located
south of the CNP plant, and six monitoring wells in the North and South Louise Avenue
Infiltration Areas (NLAIA and SLAIA or N/SLAIA collectively).
The groundwater quality in the MARIA was generally consistent with historical results. The TDS
concentrations ranged from 720 to 1200 mg/L. The TDS concentrations were above the
recommended Secondary Maximum Contaminant Level (SMCL) (500 mg/1) in all MARIA wells
sampled. Nitrate as N concentrations were below the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) (10
mg/1) in two of the three MARIA wells. Only one well (W-5) had a concentration equal to the
MCL. The pH concentrations were within the acceptable SMCLranges of 6.5 to 8.5 in all wells.
Ammonia was not detected and Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) ranged from 0.20 to 0.50 mg/L.
The groundwater quality from the N/SLAIA was also generally consistent with historical results.
The concentrations of TDS ranged from 460 to 990 mg/L. The TDS concentrations were above
the SMCL (500 mg/1) in five of the six wells. The concentrations of nitrate as N were equal to or
above the MCL of 10 mg/L in four of the six wells. The pH concentrations were within the
acceptable Secondary Maximum Contaminant Level (SMCL) ranges of 6.5 to 8.5 in all wells.
Ammonia was not detected in any of the N/SLAIA wells and TKN ranged from non-detect to
0.36 mg/L.
Total coliform organisms (TCO) and fecal coliform organisms (FCO) were detected in one well
(W-1) in the MARIA. In the N/SLAIAs TCO and FCO were detected in L-1 ; and TCO was
detected in L-6.
00101486.8/SAC15R19291 Page 4 of 17 May 6, 2015
©2015 Kleinfelder
