DER
.11h,' .11h,Po Ik.fthl kuom
The valley deposits are derived from the Coast Ranges to the west and the Sierra
Nevada to the east. Granitic and metamorphic rocks outcrop along the eastern and
southeastern flanks of the valley. Marine sedimentary rocks outcrop along most of the
' western, southwestern, southern, and southeastern flanks; and volcanic rocks and
deposits outcrop along the northeastern flanks of the valley. The valley geomorphology
includes dissected uplands, low alluvial plains and fans, river flood plains and channels,
' and overflow lands and lake bottoms.
' The majority of the native sediments near the site consist of Miocene to Holocene
continental rocks and deposits of a heterogeneous mixture of generally poorly sorted
clay, silt, sand and gravel.
' The general depth and direction of regional groundwater flow in the area of the site,
based on reports issued by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
Conservation District are summarized in the following table.
' REGIONAL GROUNDWATER ELEVATION AND FLOW DATA
CALIFORNIA NATURAL PRODUCTS FACILITY
LATHROP, CALIFORNIA
Ground-Water Approximate Depth to Flow Direction of
Date Elevation Elevation of Groundwater Groundwater
of County Map (from County Property (calculated from (based on
Data Map) (from Nolte prior 2 columns) County Map)
' survey)
Spring 1998 8 feet msl 20 feet msl 12 feet bgs Northwest
Fall 1998 3 feet msl 20 feet msl 17 feet bgs West
' Spring 1999 8 feet msl 20 feet msl 12 feet bgs Northwest
Spring 2003 0 foot msl 20 feet msl 20 feet bgs West
' Fall 2006 0 to 10 feet msl 20 feet msl 10 to20 feet bgs Northwest
Fall 2008 0 to 10 feet msl 20 feet msl 10 to 20 feet bgs Northwest
' msl mean sea level
bgs below ground surface
Groundwater depth and flow direction may be influenced by local pumping, rainfall, and
irrigation patterns.
