The Work Plan was submitted in response to EHD letter dated 13
November 2014, directing the assessment of the lateral and vertical extent of contamination that
resulted from the unauthorized release from a former underground storage tank (UST) system.
In the Work Plan, AGE proposes to:
• Advance a total of eight soil borings using direct push drilling technology up to 50 feet
below surface grade (bsg);
• Collect soil and groundwater samples during advancement of the borings;
• Analyze samples utilizing a certified laboratory.
The EHD approves the scope of work proposed in the Work Plan with the following conditions:
• As depth to water in the subject site's area is approximately 10 feet bsg, limit the total
depths of lateral borings to the proposed 20 feet bsg and tank pit boring to the proposed
40 feet bsg;
• As the UST possibly contained waste fuel, add EPA 8270 (semivolatile organic
compounds) to the analytical regimen for a shallow tank pit soil sample;
• Neat cement (grout) shall be mixed at a ratio of one 94-pound sack of portland cement
with 5 to 6 gallons of'clean' potable water;
• Boreholes deeper than 30 feet bsg and/or containing groundwater shall be filled with
grout, pumped from the bottom of the borehole up to at least 3 feet bsg through a tremie
pipe that extends to within 5 feet of the borehole's total depth;
• The EHD requires that work begin no sooner than 5 working days after the EHD permits
have been issued; and
• The EHD requires inspections to be scheduled with Johnny Yoakum, REHS at least 5
workdays prior to implementing fieldwork; Mr. Yoakum may be contacted via email at
JYoakum(DDsicehd.com or (209) 468-3147.
