11 July 2003
AGE-NC Project No 03-1055
Page 4of7J
Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert
32 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance deprobeborings using direct push technology in the area of the parking
lane that boarders the western portion of the property on Adams Street The boring locations are 20
feet west of MW-2, 40 feet west of MW-2, and 30 feet north from the south western corner of the
property All of the borings will be advanced to ground water, the proposed probe boring locations
may be modified due to field observations As each boring is advanced, soil samples will be
collected continuously or at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg and extending to the total depth
of the probe bonng
The proposed probe boring locations are illustrated in Figure 3 Field procedures for advancement
of probe bonngs and collection of soil samples are presented in Sections 4 1 and 4 2
. Selected soil samples from each probe boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis The selected
soil samples will be analyzed by a State of CaliforniaDepartment ofHealth Services(DHS)-certified
laboratory for one or more the following constituents
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015M, and
• Benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, xylenes (BTEX) and methyl-tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)
in accordance with EPA Method 8020
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chairs of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations
3 3 GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Grab ground water samples will be collected from each boring during the boring process using a
Geoprobe water sampling assembly Samples will be collected into 40-m1 volatile organic analysis
(VOA) vials with 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative as appropriate for the
required analyses, ground water sample collection procedures are presented in Section 4 1
• Ground water samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for
Advanced GeoEnvironnnental,Inc
