`.. N%.00 <br /> PROCEDURES FOR UNDERGROUND TANK REMOVAL <br /> E. TANK AND PIPING REMOVAL <br /> 1. Soil suspected to contain hydrocarbons or any contaminates will be <br /> segregated and placed on visqueen or the equivalent. The contractor <br /> will keep separate any suspected contaminated soil from clean soil. <br /> 2. The tanks shall be lifted from the excavation with a crane or backhoe <br /> of sufficient weight capacity, and placed on smooth ground free of <br /> rocks and/or other foreign objects for inspection. <br /> 3. All piping shall be removed as practical. Piping that, in the judge- <br /> ment of Placer Tractor, cannot be removed must be brought to the <br /> attention of the site inspector who will have the final authority to <br /> allow piping to be left in place. All piping left in place must be <br /> sealed with concrete at all openings. <br /> 4. The pump island will be removed and disposed of by Placer Tractor. <br /> F. TANKS ABANDONED IN PLACE <br /> 1. The underground storage tank will be pumped of all liquid or sludge. <br /> The tank will then be triple rinsed and then filled with a two sack <br /> concrete slurry mix.. <br /> 2. A notice shall be placed in the deed of the property by the owner. <br /> The notice shall describe the exact location of the closed under- <br /> ground storage tank, the substance it contained and the closure <br /> method. <br /> G. DECONTAMINATE TANKS <br /> The interior of the tanks will be pressure washed per the specifications <br /> of NFPA 327. The equivalent of a triple rinse of water and trisodium <br /> phosphate generating a minimum of one percent of the tank volume. <br /> H. DISPOSAL OF TANKS <br /> Placer Tractor is responsible for removal and disposal of the tanks and <br /> all associated piping and pumps from the site. A Certificate of Disposal <br /> will be supplied to the owner stating the final disposition of the tanks. <br /> All of the tanks will be taken to American Metal Recyclers in Ontario, CA. <br /> where they are smashed for scrap metal. <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br />
