Wilmington '
Carson, CA 90810=1039
Subject: Shell Station
4315 Waterloo Road
Stockton, CA
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Site
Investigation Work Plan (work plan) dated July.18, 2008, prepared by Conestoga-Rovers &
Associates and provides the following comments.
The work plan states that soil boring MW=8 will be drilled with 'a dual, cased air rotary or
rotosonic equipment or hollow stem auger with conductor casing and that soil borings MW-9
and MW-10 will be drilled using hollow stem auger equipment., Construction details such as the
size of the augers or casing drilling equipment and the size of the conductor casing was not
provided nor were well construction diagrams provided.
The work plan states that soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals for possible chemical
analyses but doesn't discuss how many samples will be analyzed or how samples will be
selected for analysis.
The work plan states that MW-8.will be screened from approximately 90 to'95 feet below grade.
This is the same construction as MW-7 and the boring.log for MW-7 shows that it is screened in
silt and that there is sand with gravel. above the screened.interval .from 82.5 to 87.5 feet.
Monitoring well MW-8 should be screened in permeable material.
Storage and disposal of soil and groundwater generated-during-this phase of work was not
discussed.
The EHD could not find a cross-section in past reports submitted for this site. A cross- section
showing lithology and contaminant concentrations should be-prepared to justify the work
proposed.
