43 f5 Waterloo Road, Stock - 2 - 11 March,1999
On 10 March 1999 I discussed this site with Mr. Jeff Wong and Ms. Margaret Lagorio of San Joaquin
County. I reviewed the soil contamination results and soil boring data with.them and they agreed that at
least one groundwater monitoring well is needed to evaluate water quality at the site. We also agreed
that two consecutive quarters of groundwater monitoring and sampling for TPHg, BTEX, the fuel
oxygenates and 1,2-D is necessary.
SUMMARY:
Based on MTBE, BTEX and TPHg contamination reported in soil to 37 feet bgs and the subsurface soil
types, there is potential for water quality impact from the former USTs. San Joaquin County staff agree
at least one groundwater monitoring well is necessary (in the expected direction) downgradient of the
former and current USTs, to evaluate water quality below the site. Following monitoring well
development, groundwater samples should be collected and analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, the fuel
oxygenates (MTBE, TAME, DIPS, ETBE and TBA by EPA Method 8260), and 1,2-DCA. At least.two __
—_ "consecutive quarters of sampling is necessary to verify water quality. However, any impact to water
quality should require additional groundwater investigation. Concurrence.with the San Joaquin County
Local Oversight Program determination of"No Further Action Required" is premature at this time.
f
