CAM BR I A
The well boring will be drilled with hollow stem auger drilling equipment. A Cambria geologist
will supervise the drilling and describe encountered soils using the Unified Soil Classification
System and Munsell Soil Color Chart. Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals for
lithologic description and possible chemical analysis. Soil samples will be screened in the field
at 5-foot intervals for organic vapors with an organic vapor meter. Organic vapor
measurements will be recorded on the boring log.
Soil samples will be retained in brass or stainless steel sample tubes and will be covered on
both ends with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps. Soil samples will be labeled, entered onto a
chain-of-custody record and placed into a cooler with ice for transport to a State of
California certified laboratory for analysis.
Monitoring Well Installation: The proposed well boring will be drilled in the manner
described above and converted to a groundwater monitoring well. The well will be constructed
of 2-inch diameter threaded Schedule 40 PVC well casing. Approximately 15 feet of screen
will be placed in the well, with the screen placed at least 10 feet below and 5 feet above the
top of the groundwater table. The sandpack will be placed 1 to 2 feet above the top of the
well screen followed by a 1-foot thick bentonite seal. A. cement-grout seal will be placed
above the bentonite seal to grade. The well will be secured with a locking cap under a traffic-
rated well box. A well completion report will be prepared for the groundwater monitoring
well.
Groundwater Sampling: A Shell-approved sampling contractor will develop the groundwater
monitoring well prior to sampling. After well development, groundwater samples will be
collected. The samples will be submitted to a state-certified laboratory for analysis.
Chemical Analysis: Groundwater samples and selected soil samples will be analyzed for
Ti PH by EPA Metlhodr80,',5.(modified), benzene,. toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX)
and MTBE by EPA Method 8020, and fuel oxygenates (MTBE, TAME, DIPE, ETBE, TBA,
and 1,2-DCA) by EPA Method 8260.
Report Preparation: Following the receipt of analytical results from the laboratory, Cambria
will prepare a written report which will include field procedures, laboratory results, a boring
log, and conclusions.
The scope of work described in this work plan will be performed under the supervision of a
registered geologist.
241-1359 3
