ik4 KLEINFELDER
tMonitorinq Well Development
A minimum of 48 hours after installation, the monitoring wells will be developed to
remove fine silt from the well bore and to effectively increase the hydraulic radius of
each monitoring well. Surging along the screened interval of the well will be performed
to set the sand pack. The monitoring wells will be developed as described in Appendix
B Section A.3.2. In addition to developing the monitoring wells until the discharge runs
relatively clear of fines, the discharge will be periodically monitored for pH, temperature,
and specific conductance.
The well development purge water will be contained in 55-gallon drums pending
chemical analysis and proper disposal by the client.
Monitoring Well Sampling
Groundwater samples will be collected from the three new monitoring wells and the wells
will be incorporated into a quarterly groundwater monitoring schedule. It is anticipated
' that the three new monitoring wells will be sampled during the Fourth Quarter 2005
groundwater monitoring event.
Water level measurements will be made in the monitoring wells prior to development,
purging and sampling the wells. The depth to groundwater will then be measured in each
well according to the protocol described in Attachment B Section B-4.1.
Approximately three to five well volumes will be purged and samples will be collected as
described in Attachment B-4.2. Each of the water samples collected for quantitative
analyses will be submitted under chain-of-custody control to a laboratory certified by the
State of California Department of Health Services (DHS) for the requested analyses.
Monitoring Well Soil and Groundwater Sampling Analyses
After collection, the soil samples from the well borings will be labeled, logged on a chain-
of-custody, and immediately stored in an iced cooler. Six soil samples (two from each
well boring) will be submitted to a State certified laboratory and analyzed for the following
analyses:
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [C4-C10] including Benzene, Toluene,
' Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8260
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [C10-C40] by EPA Method 8015M
1 After monitoring well installation and development three groundwater samples will be
collected during the fourth quarter monitoring event and analyzed for the following:
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [C4-C10] including Benzene, Toluene,
Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8260
44843.T04/STO5R1333/DH:Iv Page 12 of 17
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc.
