9 DRAFT 0
Water level measurements will be made in the monitoring wells prior to development,
purging and sampling the wells. The depth to groundwater will then be measured in each
well according to the protocol described in Appendix B Section B-4.1.
Approximately three to five well volumes will be purged and samples will be collected as
described in Appendix 84.2. Each of the water samples collected for quantitative
analyses will be submitted under chain-of-custody control to a laboratory certified by the
State of California Department of Health Services (DHS) for the requested analyses.
Monitorinq Well Soil and Groundwater Sampling Analyses
After collection, the soil samples from the well borings will be labeled, logged on a chain-
of-custody, and immediately stored in an iced cooler. Six soil samples (two from each
well boring) will be submitted to a State certified laboratory and analyzed for the following
analyses:
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [C4-C10] including Benzene, Toluene,
Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8260
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [C10-C40] by EPA Method 8015M
After monitoring well installation and development three groundwater samples will be
collected during the fourth quarter monitoring event and analyzed for the following:
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [C4-C10] including Benzene, Toluene,
Ethylbenzene, Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method 8260
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons [C10-C40] by EPA Method 8015M
The samples will be analyzed on a normal laboratory schedule requiring approximately
two weeks (ten working days) for completion. Kleinfelder has proposed additional
groundwater monitoring for three quarters for a total of four quarterly groundwater
sampling events.
TASK 4 — REPORTING
Upon completion of the field activities and receipt of the analytical results a report of
findings will be prepared for client review. Kleinfelder will prepare a total of five reports
including a excavation observation and confirmation soil sampling report including a
human health risk evaluation, a monitoring well installation and groundwater sampling
report and three quarterly groundwater sampling reports. The reports will include the
following:
• A description of the field activities, observations, and protocols;
• Tabulated results of soil samples with copies of certified results;
44843.T04/ST05R997/DHJv Page 10 of 14
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc.
