i
20 July 2001
AGE-NC Project No 97-0300
I5 0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of the first quarter 2001 investigation, AGE recommends
• Reduction of quarterly monitoring/sampling ground water monitoring events to semi-annual
monitoring/sampling events at the site Thus far, four ground water monitonng/sampling
I events have been performed at wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 from June 2000 to March
2001 Based on ground water analytical data collected to date, AGE believes that only
residual MTBE and TPH-d may be present in ground water and that continued quarterly
I ground water monitoring events at this stage of the investigation is not cost effective and will
not provide enough useful information to supplement the ongoing investigation Semi-annual
monitoring/sampling events should be adequate to monitor the remedial progress at the site
' and should be re-evaluated on a semi-annual basis The next monitoring/sampling event
should be scheduled for September 2001
• Submission of a ground water monitoring well sample collected from MW-1 to a
microbiological laboratory for microbial enumeration and physicochemical analysis to assess
the potential for natural attenuation of petroleum hydrocarbons in ground water at the site
• Elimination of analysis for methanol, ethanol, 1,2-DCA and EDB in collected ground water
samples
• A corrective action plan report is currently being prepared by AGE to evaluate several
remedial alternatives for impacted soil at the site, upon regulatory approval, corrective action
should be implemented
I
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydro-
geologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number
' of available data points (ground water samples), and subsurface conditions may vary away from
these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
recommendations contained in this report
I
I
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
