Wickland Oil #R603 page 2
6425 Pacific Ave., Stockton.
In the very near future, large diameter groundwater extraction wells installed
along the western edge of Pacific Avenue starting at 140 feet north of this site
will begin to pull large amounts of groundwater from the first aquifer. PHS-EHD
anticipates that this large scaled groundwater extraction process will have some
effect on the plume size, direction of flow, petroleum concentration, and depth to
groundwater at this site. The consultants for the Lincoln Property Solvent Plume
investigation have advised PHS-EHD that the groundwater extraction procedures
could start by October 1998. PHS-EHD recommends that prior to installing any
new vapor wells on site, the effects of the groundwater extraction be evaluated
by your consultant and discussed with Michael Infurna at PHS-EHD.
In December 1997, the EPA Method 8260 analyses for groundwater samples
from MW-2 was performed at elevated detection limits (10,000 ug/I for TBA, and
500 ug/I for the other four oxygenates) and reported as "non-detect". In order to
accept conclusions that these constituents are not present in MW-2 (the most
contaminated well on site), an additional 8260 analysis for groundwater samples
from MW-2 are required at acceptable detection limits.
Thank your for your cooperation throughout this long investigation. Please
continue to submit your reports, work plans, and any comments you have to
Michael Infurna, and you may call him at (209) 468-3454 if you wish to discuss
the site or schedule the field inspections.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Michael J.
