This will increase the available oxygen
in the ground water at and near this area . MW2 is currently
connected 'lto the vapor recovery system. The sparging line will
be run through the vapor recovery tubing and connected to MW2
with air tight 'fittings . The sparging rod will be placed to
approximately 1 foot off bottom of the well (59 foot depth) and
connected ! to an oiless air compressor. The pressure regulator
and flow ,''meter will be positioned on the compressor to regulate
the amount of pressure and air delivered to the water at MW2 .
The compressor will be regulated to deliver a pressure of no more
than 30 pounds per square inch (psi) . The well head at MW2 will
be retrofitted with threaded caps? that can withstand pressures in
excess of h60 psi .
F
During the once a week site visits for air monitoring and a week
prior to 'quarterly ground water sampling, MW2 sparging will be
j turned off and vacuum extraction will occur from the well to
j remove any pressure and vapors that have been generated by the
sparging. [ Prior to leaving the "site, MW2 will be placed back on
sparging ih,and the vapor recovery to the well turned off . This
will allow. a pressure induced spa;'rging of air into the formation
and ground water near MW2 . A waning label indicating that MW2
is "under' pressure" and that "sp`rarks or flames could ignite the
vapor" will be secured to the well head. The well head will have
r
i
PAGE1 R603-BACT NOTICE 1-12-96
i
li ii
