k
I
I
boring locations may be moved. The proposed boring locations are shown on the attached ,
figure.
i I
Soil and groundwater sampling will be carried out to evaluate current subsurface
conditions at the Property. Soil samples will be collected at 5, 10, and 15 feet in depth
from each boring for field screening with an organic vapor monitor (OVM) and potential
laboratory analysis. Based on field screening results, one soil sample from each boring
location (total of four soil samples) will be submitted for laboratory analyses. Soil
samples will not be collected below 15 feet in depth, unless field conditions suggest soil
'impact is present below 15 feet in depth.
If encountered, one grab groundwater sample will be collected at each boring location
(total of four groundwater samples) and submitted for laboratory analyses. Each
sample will be analyzed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including BTEX
compounds and MTBE, using EPA Method 8260 (low level detection limits) and total
petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) using EPA Method 8015. The TPH analyses (for the
diesel fuel and oil range hydrocarbons) will be preceded by silica gel cleanup to remove
naturally occurring fats or lipids that may cause false positive results. The samples will
be analyzed using a one-week laboratory turn around time.
After the sampling activities are completed, the push rods will be pulled and the 1.5 inch
diameter borings will be cement-grouted to surface.
HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
A site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) will be prepared prior to fieldwork. The
HASP will address the scope of work and safety concerns for the Property. An
underground utility clearance will also be performed before the drilling is conducted.
SCHEDULE
GeoTrans would like to schedule the fieldwork to begin on Thursday, January 30, 2003,
i
pending permit approval from San Joaquin County. The actual drilling should be
completed in one field day, provided sufficient groundwater enters the borings to allow for
sampling.
I
i
i
I
2
I
GeoTrans,
