Hydrocarbon
contamination was discovered during the excavation and removal of
y° tanks at the site. Although the initial borings and placement of
t` three monitor wells delineated the extent of soil contamination;
rit was found that the ground water beneath the site contains
dissolved and floating product (gasoline range) , see Table 2. We
I propose to delineate the lateral extent of ground water
r; c,Dntamination with exploratory borings situated off site; to the
.north, east, west and south of the site (see figure 47 . f
i EXXON, INC. will be subleaseing the station. Regal was in the E
3
# process of upgrading the site with new double-contained tanks and
piping. Town and'Country' carried out the tank removal and
excavation and Applied GeoSystems performed the required soil
sampling on October 25, 1588. Construction was halted upon
discovery of gasoline-type sail contamination in the backfill
material and in the sail surrounding the tank area (See Table 1).
Immediate site assessment and review are needed to expedite tho
remediation and upgrade of the site.
EXPLORATORY BORING AND SAMPLING. PROCEDURES
Western Geo-Engineers conducted a site visit on December 28, 1988
where it was determined that the optimum means of site assessment
f will be to perform explorat_-y borings along the southern boundary
:. '.
of Douglas Raod, in the easment along the eastern aide of Pacific
Avenue and within the Food Market parking lot north and west of
WEI the site. We also anticipate the probable construction of monitor
wells within selected bot ings (see figure 4) Borings that are
not converted into ground water monitoring wells will be destr0yed
i in accordance to San Joaquin County Health and State of California
procedures.
Page 1
it I
loom
