Bailing proceeded for each well until pH, :I <br /> conductivity, and temperature parameters stabilized (approximately <br /> 5 gallons) and then the sample was taken, see Appendix B. The <br /> "purged" water was stored in one 55 gallon 17 E hazardous material <br /> drum, on site, within the fenced treatment compound. <br /> A representative water sample was obtained from the monitor wells <br /> using the dedicated disposable PVC bailer used durir purging of <br /> the well. The water samples collected were stored in four-40 <br /> milliliter VOA vials. These water samples were p rd into an <br /> insulated cooler with ice and, in the clients beha.. "chain of <br /> custody hand delivered" to Chemtech Analytical Laboratories (DHS <br /> certified #359) for chemical analyses. <br /> 3.0 RESULTS <br /> 3.1 PRODUCT AND RECOVERY <br /> During the initial site assessr rt and during subsequent site <br /> visits, floating product was observed in monitor wells MW-1 and <br /> MW-3. Product thickness in MW-1 has ranged from 0.02' to 1.26° <br /> and from 0.6' to 1.66' in MW-3. The recovered gasoline is amber , <br /> yellow and appears to be fresh (no apparent degradation) . <br /> Involved regulatory agencies suggested that product recovery <br /> commence before an aquifer pump test be performed. <br /> Temporary submersible pneumatic pumps were installed into monitor <br /> wells MW-1 and MW-3 for product recovery on October 10, 1989. All <br /> "plumbing" (pump lines, electrical lines, etc. , ) .necessary for � <br /> operating the pumps are contained in underground schedule 40 PVC' <br /> conduit. The product is pumped via this "plumbing" network to an <br /> above ground 1000 gallon "ConVault" tank. This "ConVault" tank <br /> was placed within the secured compound and has been approved by <br /> the Stockton City Fire Dept. An automatic shut off" switch has <br /> been installed to prevent the "ConVault" tank from over spilling <br /> if the tank becomes nearly full. Approximately 40 gallons of <br /> gasoline was recovered. A site visit conducted by WEGE personnel <br /> on January 12, 1990 indicated that MW-1 and MW-3 had been depleted <br /> of gasoline product. The product recovery system was removed in <br /> February, 1990, and the "ConVault" tank, until September, 1990, <br /> ,tas being used for the storage of the pu+:ged well water. During <br /> this latest monitoring round (11-27-90) 0.08, of a clear yellow <br /> floating product was again discovered in monitor well MW1. This <br /> well was purged until depletion of the product was noted; <br /> approximately 1 quart of gasoline was recovered and placed into <br /> the 55 gallon drum storing the water "purged" prior to sampling <br /> the wells. <br /> 4 <br />
