At the start up of the test,
influent samples will be obtained from monitor wells P1, P3 and EX
and an effluent sample well be obtained from the exhaust of the
blower and analyzed for total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TP11) as
gasoline and diesel along with Benzene, Toluene, Fthylbenzcne and
Xylenes (BTEX) using DIIS headspace method with FID chromatograph
Western Geo-Engineer] (WEGE). Once breakthrough is indicated by
PID readings. 3.nfluent samples will be obtained from the vapor
extraction wells, the influent to the 'slower and the effluent from
the charcoal tub scrubs and anlavzed for TPH and BTEX by the WEGE
lab. Also an effluent sample will be obtained from the charcoal
,-
tub scrub exhaust prior to shutting the system off and
disconnecting it from the cells (for analysis by Chemtec
Laboratories). This sample will be analyzed using EPA modified
8015 and 602 for TP11 and BTEX respectively. Throughout the test
vacuum readings will be obtained from the ground water monitoring
wells, to help establish the radius of influence of the vapor
extraction system.
This source test will help evaluate the amount of fuel range
hydrocarbons available and the suppliemental fuel needed !.o
achieves incineration using the Hirtz Incenerator for emissi,.,ns
control during ground water and soil remediation for this site,
see Figures 4A manifold for vapor extraction system and 4B
schemtaic for vapor extraction system.
Start up date for Pilot Test January S, 1991
Monitoring-hand held PID Alternate Days
Duration (maximum) 1 week or breakthrough
c-
If you have any questions, please call (916) 662 4541.
Sincerely yours, 7
George L.
