SPILL PREVENTION PLAN
As required by the Wastewater Discharge Permit for this site, a spill prevention plan has been
prepared
The waste stream is treated groundwater condensate produced from the vapor extraction of monitor
wells MW 1, MW2, MW3, and MW 10, and the purged water produced during the quarterly ground
water sampling of all the wells associated with this site
Lawrence Tank Testing's (LTT) vacuum pump service used their vacuum pump to pull the water
from MW8 and MW12, through dedicated one inch Sch 40 PVC pipes, into a 100 gallon stainless
steel tank
This water is then transferred to the "ConVault" for treatment by "tank aeration", with the vapor
destruction accomplished using air stripping LTT has stopped (August 1993) purging monitor
wells MW 1, MW2, MW3 and MW 10 The vapor extraction system has been temporarily turned
off awaiting the San Joaquin County Health decision for no further action at this site Condensate
water produced from the vapor extraction system is placed into the "ConVault" for vacuum
stripping treatment
The "ConVault" tank is a double contained steel tank shrouded in concrete The treatment of the
groundwater occurs in batches After treatment the water is then dumped from the treatment tank,
via the centrifugal pump, through a totalizer water meter The water is then passed through a
chamber containing an LEL meter relay calibrated to shut off the system if vapors from the effluent
I R-603 W W#59 9/8/00 ,
