• C1 . Monitoring wells MW1 2 " PVC & MW3 4 " PVC well will be used for
pumping the ground water using a pneumatic pump , to pump at
approximately 0 . 5 to 1 . 0 gallons per minute . The pumps will
deliver the water to a sediment control tank and then to the
1000 gallon treatment tank . Where approximately 300 gallons
will be treated and air stripped for 5 hours prior to dumping
to sewer at a 5 gpm rate . All discharged water will be metered
and LEL monitored , with an alarm at the sewer clean out entry .
Pounds/Day
C4 . Removal of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (gasoline Range ) is estimated
at 90%. Using the highest concentration found from either monitoring well
MW1 or MW3 , prior to vapor extraction November 27 , 1990 , 720 mg/l is found
in monitoring well MW3, See table 1 . 720 mg/l at 90% removal leaves
72 mg/l in the effluent.
The BTEX concentrations were also obtained from the November 27, 1990
sampling of MW3. We estimate a higher degree of removal of these
more volatile components of gasoline of approximately 98.7%.
Benzene = 2.6 mg/1 At 98.7% removal = 0 .0338 mg/l
Toluene = 3.4 mg/l at 98.7% removal = 0.0442 mg/l
EthylBenzene = 1 .3 mg/l at 98.7% removal = 0.0169 mg/l
• Xylenes = 13.0 mg/l at 98.7% removal = 0.0169 mg/l
BTEX Total - 0.26 mg/l left in effluent
Converting mg/l into lbs/gallon
1 mg X 3.785 X 0.0000022 lbs = 0.000008 lbs.
1 gal mg gal
at a discharge rate of 1200 gal/day = 0.0096 lbs/day X concentration
TPH at 72 (mg/1) x 0 .0096 lbs/day = 0 .69 lbs/day
BTEX at 0 .26 (mg/1) X 0 .0096 lbs/day = 0.002 lbs/day
