UST Closure Report No-,ember 10 2000 <br /> 6425 Par,stic Avenue Project No 3954 <br /> • Stockton Calitornta _ _1'aEe 2 <br /> Soil samples were collected from sic temporary borings at the locations shown on Figure 2 to <br /> determine if petroleum hydrocarbons constituents are present in native soils beneath the three <br /> former USTs Each boring was continuously logged from a depth of 16 feet bg to the <br /> termination of the boring The purpose of this logging was to identify the depth of the backfill- <br /> native soil contact so that a native soil sample could be collected approximately two feet beneath <br /> this contact This sample depth was requested by the SJC-EHD Boring logs for the sic <br /> temporary borings are included in Appendix D <br /> Soil samples were collected using a 3-foot long Geo-probe sampling core tube fined with 6 brass <br /> tubes The brass tube that was collected from 2 feet below the pea-gravel/native soil contact was <br /> selected for sampling Immediately after collecting the sample, the ends of the brass tube were <br /> covered with Teflon sheets and end caps were placed such that an airtight seal was maintained <br /> Soil from each sampled interval was placed in a ziplock baggie and placed in the sun for at least <br /> 1/2 hour The probe of an Hnu photo ionization detector (PID) was placed in the headspace of <br /> the baggie after this elapsed time and a reading of the total ionizable organic vapors was noted <br /> None of the bagged samples yielded detectable ionizable organic vapors These PID readings <br /> are recorded on the boring logs in Appendix D <br /> Since the backfill material will be excavated from the UST excavation prior to installation of the <br /> . new USTs, Mr Michael Infuma granted a waiver to the grouting requirement for the temporary <br /> borings A copy of the letter granting the waiver of the grouting requirement is provided in <br /> Appendix E <br /> The samples were labeled in the field indicating project name (or number), sample number, <br /> sample depth, and date The same information was recorded on the chain of custody form Soil <br /> samples were placed in a cooler with ice and were delivered that same day to McCampbell <br /> Analytical, Inc in Pacheco, California <br /> I <br /> The six soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 (modified), benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020, and fuel oxygenates (MtBE, <br /> TAME, DIPE, ETBE and TBA) and lead scavengers (EDB and 1,2-DCE) by EPA Method <br /> 8260b <br /> 4.0 Soil Sample Results <br /> Sample ID TPH-g benzene toluene eth lbenzene xylenes MtBE <br /> B-4A ND ND ND ND ND ND <br /> B-4B ND ND ND ND ND ND <br /> 13-5A ND ND ND ND ND ND <br /> 13-5B ND ND ND ND ND ND <br /> B-6A ND ND ND ND ND ND <br /> B-613 ND ND ND ND ND ND <br /> AFO1n\d\Ccntral Project FdeN3954 Mahon Stockton\UST Closure EReportNTJST Closure Report dor <br />
