We feel an EXEMPTION or VARIANCE is in order, to allow those
• projects , that are now ready for sewer discharge, to proceed with
the sewer discharge permit and hook up (due to the lack of
notification of the VERBAL POLICY change) . We understand that the
City of Stockton ordinance, that allows discharge of treated
ground water to the sewer , has not been changed. We are
appreciative of the Sewer Facilities' concerns for the amounts and
contaminants , involved in the treated ground water streams, that
could be recieved by the sewer.
A variance that would allow the discharge of treated ground water
to the sewer only if the discharger can demonstrate appropriate
controls and contaminant removal , discharge rates that will not
]eopardize the sewer system (smaller volumes of treated ground
water less than 2000 gallons a day ) and shows adequate removal of
contaminants that are of concern to the sewer treatment facility,
seems in order.
This is a formai request for such a variance for Wickland
Properta.es Ground Water Treatment Facility located at 5425 Pacific
Avenue, Stockton, California.
Sincerely yours ,4George Converse °
Project Geologist
Western Geo--Engineers
cc : Mr .
