R603 UPDATE-20 9/15/93
VAPOR RECOVERY OPERATIONS AND RESULTS
Presently (August 23 , 1993) the REMOX units have operated for a
total of 10637 hours out of a total of 15523 hours (68 . 5k) . The
new replacement unapt has operated 6635 hours out of 8876 hours
(74 . 8'x) , removing and destroying and estimated 70728 pounds of
gasoline range hydrocarbons and an estimated 64380 pounds of
oxidized gasoline range hydrocarbons as CO2 (August 23 , 1993)
for a total of 135108 pounds or 21617 gallons of gasoline range
hydrocarbons removed from the subsurface, see Tables 2, and 3 and
Appendix C-Air Monitoring Report .
Since February 18, 1993 the vapor recovery/destruction has been
declining from an average above 200 pounds per day of gasoline
range hydrocarbons to a low of 30 pounds per day of gasoline
range hydrocarbons on July 19, 1993 With the addition of the
heat exchanger the pounds per day destruction was increased to
nearly 70 pounds per day on August 23 , 1993 , dust prior to
turning the system off for repair of the compressor, see Table 2
and concentration charts Figures 5A, 5B and 5C. These charts
indicate that the heavier compounds of gasoline range
hydrocarbons ethylbenzene, xylenes, etc . ) have been moderately
reduced while lighter compounds (benzene, toluene, etc . ) have
been greatly reduced.
CONDENSATE REMOVAL BY LTT
Condensation from vapor extraction is collected in moisture drop
out tanks constructed of 12" PVC pipe, before the manifold, to
prevent moisture build up on the vacuum pump filter. All fluids
removed from the condensation traps are placed in the 1000 gallon
"ConVault" . Table 5 represents the field notes from LTT
condensate removal, see Appendix B. As of August 30, 1993 LTT
has removed an estimated 4915 gallons of condensate/water and
26 25 gallons of product from the condensate traps Total fluids
removed as of July 27, 1993 5077 gallons of water/condensate
and 48 75 gallons of product (162 previously recovered condensate
water and 22 5 gallons of product) .
4 . 0 SUMMARY
There has been no evidence of floating product or product sheen
on the ground water in MW1 since April 14, 1992 and MW3 and MW10
since November 11, 1992 Only occasional product sheen is found
with the condensate recovered from the vapor extraction moisture
dropouts and manifold. Vapor recovery and well purging has
reduced the hydrocarbons in ground water significantly since the
May 25, 1990 sampling, see Table 1 Using benzene as an
indicator, monitoring wells MW4, MW5, MW6, MW7 and MW9 have been
reduced to below detection limits while the wells being utilized
for vapor extraction (MW1 , MW3, and MW10) have been reduced by
better than 99t . MW2 , which is also utilized for vapor
extraction has been reduced 81% and MW8 has been reduced by
approximately 22t . Of the newly installed wells MW11 and MW12,
PAGE 3
