R603 UPDATE-17 5/24/93
3 .0 RESULTS
GROUND WATER SAMPLE RESULTS
Ground water samples were obtained from all of the monitoring
wells on March 11 and 15, 1993 .
The latest sample results shows the continual decline in
contaminant levels associated with the ground water at this site .
Of the wells that have some degree of ground water contamination
(MW1, MW2 , MW3 , MW8, MW10 and MW12) MW2, MW8 and MW12 showed
reductions .
The increase in contaminant concentrations found at MW1 and MW3 is
thought to be associated with the vacuum extraction at these
wells, concentrating the contaminant from adjacent areas to the
source of the vacuum, see Table 1 .
VAPOR RECOVERY OPERATIONS AND RESULTS
Presently (May 18, 1993) the REMOX units have operated for a
total of 8837 hours out of a total of 13242 5 hours (66 7%) . The
new replacement unit has operated 4835 hours out of 6595 . 5 hours
(73 . 3%) , removing and destroying 67948 pounds of gasoline range
hydrocarbons (May 18, 1993) and an estimated 54347 pounds of
oxidized gasoline range hydrocarbons as CO2 (Average 200 cfm flow
rate X average CO2% (1 25) x 8837 hours operated x 60 min/hour x
pound CO2 conversion 0 00041 lb/cf/%) for a total of 117187
pounds of gasoline range hydrocarbons removed from the
subsurface, see Tables 2, and 3 and Appendix A-Air Monitoring
Report
CONDENSATE REMOVAL AND WELL PURGING BY LTT
Condensation from vapor extraction is collected in moisture drop
out tanks constructed of 12" PVC pipe, before the manifold, to
prevent moisture build up on the vacuum pump filter. All fluids
removed from the condensation traps are placed in the 1000 gallon
"ConVault" . Table 5 represents the field notes from LTT
condensate removal . As of April 29, 1993 LTT has removed 3778
gallons of water/condensate along with 26 . 25 gallons of product
from the condensate traps . Total fluids removed as of March 28,
1993 : 3940 gallons of condensate/water and 48 75 gallons of
product, which includes condensate removed prior to December 1,
1992 .
4 .0 SUMMARY
MMARY
Since November, 1992 there has been no observable floating
product on the ground water and only occasional product sheen
with the condensate recovered from the vapor extraction moisture
dropouts .
PAGE 2
