R603 UPDATE-13 2/15/93
removed/destroyed and an estimated 6573 pounds of oxidized
hydrocarbons as CO2 removed (averaged 1 45% in influent stream)
in 614 25 hours of operation (averaging 24 . 98 pounds per hour or
599 pounds per day of operation) . DCE, TCE and PCE screening
show that these compounds are not present in the vapor stream,
see Appendix B - Air Monitoring Report and Table 5
Ground water elevation measurements show the ground water has
started a recharge cycle, which is normal for this site during
this time of the year, with a valley forming from MW3 towards MW1
and MW5, while the overall flow direction is to the southeast
from the tank area towards monitoring well MW5
Results of ground water samples collected on December 17, 1991,
approximately 1473 hours after commencement of vapor extraction,
compared to the results of ground water sample collected on
December 9, 1992 , 9355 5 hours (390 days) after commencement of
vapor extraction, show a decline in the extent of the dissolved
constituents in all of the monitoring wells, see Table 1 . All
floating product has been removed
As of December 9, 1992 the air dilute has been completely closed j
and all vacuum recovery is directed to MW1, MW2, MW3 , MW10 , EX-4"
and the "ConVault" water treatment tank, this increase in the
vacuum on the wells enlarged the area of vacuum influence and
should influence MW8 and MW12 ground water conditions, see Figure
7
The permit to dump treated ground water to the sewer was received
and the initial dumping of 800 gallons of treated ground water
occurred on December 1, 1992 . All permit conditions were meet,
see Table 4 This interim treatment will continue in batches of
approximately 200- 300 gallons until the need for continuous
ground water pumping is evaluated
5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
1 Perform ground water sampling for gasoline range
hydrocarbons on a quarterly basis
2 Have LTT remove condensate from dropouts along with
purging MW1, MW2, MW3, MW8 and MW10 and monitor REMOX
unit with a LEL/02 meter (adjust as needed) , twice
weekly
3 . Provide monthly update status reports of vapor
recovery/destruction
4 . Treat the collected condensate and purged ground water
by tank aeration - vapor destruction using the REMOX
incinerator
PAGE 2
