January 6, 1997 Project No 4141 Tracy Joint Union High School District 315 East 11th Street Tracy, CA 95376 Attn Ms Anne Bell Re Excavation at Former Underground Storage Tank Pit Old Bus Facility, 315 East 11th Street, Tracy, CA Dear Ms Bell, Wright Environmental Services, Inc has completed the soil excavation at the above referenced site As you know, several phases of site investigation and site monitoring have been performed here over the past several years Wright Environmental Services, Inc (WRIGHT) prepared a soil excavation cleanup plan in consultation with the Tracy Joint Union High School District and the San Joaquin County Public Health Services- Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) This report presents the results of this work Background Two underground storage tanks had been used on this site at the old bus facility at Tracy High School One 1,000-gallon gasoline tank was removed in 1987 and one 1 ,000- gallon 00- gallon diesel tank was removed in 1993 (see Figure 1) Three groundwater monitoring wells and nine soil borings were placed in and around the former tank pit to define the vadose zone soil and groundwater contamination (see References) Groundwater monitoring has continued since 1988 WRIGHT prepared a soil excavation plan to remove the contaminants in the areas of the former tank pits Field Activities - Excavation and Soil Sampling Soil was excavated from the area shown on Figure 1, Detail A on August 12-21 , 1996 from the area of the former tank location Excavation continued in the former pump island and fuel tanks vicinity to a depth of about 10- to 12-feet below existing grade Excavation continued until uncontaminated soil was encountered (using field criteria of �•`-` odor and staining) 4220 Commercial Dr #5 - Tracy, California 95376 Page 1 AM Up i Telephone (209) 833-0758 - Fax (209) 832-5152
