Eleventh Street
Tracy, CA
On April 21, 1994, the product and vapor piping associated with the former
underground storage tanks (UST) was removed from the above referenced site under
the inspection of San Joaquin county Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) staff. Three soil samples were collected from beneath the
piping in December 1988. The soil sample collected in the area of the east
dispenser island had evidenced diesel contamination at that time. During removal
of the piping no odor or discoloration of the soil was observed by PHS/EHD staff
so no further soil sampling was required.
PHS/EHD has reviewed the "Quarterly Report" dated March 1994, prepared by
Geological Audit Services, Inc. for the above referenced site. The table of
groundwater sample results still does not indicate that the water samples from
monitoring well 01 (MWl) were diluted for analysis. In the future, dilution
factors should be noted on diluted sample results.
Groundwater in the area of MW1 is still evidencing contaminants. Contaminated
soil remains in place north, east and west of the former UST area. The report
discusses further excavation of soil, vapor extraction, air sparging, and
bioremediation as remedial options. The report recommends further excavation but
states that if this "will impair operations" a vapor extraction test should be
conducted. PHS/EHD concurs with both these recommendations.
Quarterly sampling, monitoring, and reporting must continue until the site is
clean. Please notify PHS/EBD prior to any site activities.
If you have any questions contact Margaret Lagorio, Senior RENS, at (209) 468-
3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Zare Lagorio, Lead Senior REHS Diane .
