E(even th St. ?
Tracy.CA
Purpose and Scop®
The purposeof the Phase I site asmment Is to define the lateral and vertical extent of sof!
contamination adjacent to the underground storage tanks and to determine If ground water has been
impacked. Four borings are proposed at this time. If these borings contain significant levels of
contamination, tdditfonal borings may need to be drilled to define the Zero-contaminatIon line. If
soil contain Inat Ion has moved vert leally to the point of encountering ground water, then a
monitoring well will need to be Installed to evaluate the extent of cantaminatlon adJacent to the
tanks.
+ Site History
The station became inactive In Mober of 1987 for the perpose of selling the property. A
precision test was performed In December 1987 and al l tanks passed except for the diesel tank.
Initially the, rviuet Ifrm was thought to be the source of the leak, but when the tank was isolated
from the produci sins and retested In January 19881t again failed.
On January 29, 1988,Canonie Environmental Services collected three soil samples. One was
taken from a depth of 8 feet near the waste of I tank. The other two were collected from the east and
west ends of the dlesel tank at a depth of 7 feet. The sample beside the waste oil tank was found to
be free of contamination and the tank was removed at the beglnn Ing of 1988. However,
contamination was present in,buil samples collectod from the dlesel tank location. The data is
r summarized below In;'able 1.
