i <br /> i <br /> QUARTERLY REPORT <br /> Stewarts Beacon <br /> i 515 West 11th Street <br /> Tracy, CA <br /> i March 1994 <br /> i1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with a request from Mr William Stewart, Geological Audit Services, Inc <br /> i (GeoAudit) has prepared this report summarizing monitoring activities performed during <br /> the first quarter of 1994 at 515 West 111 Street in Tracy, California (the site) Mr Stewart <br /> i is the former owner of Bill's Bait and Beacon, which operated at the site until 1988 <br /> Activities performed at the site included soil and groundwater sampling and excavation <br /> backfilling <br /> i <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 Site Location <br /> iThe site is located in a relatively flat business/residential area of Tracy, California (Figure <br /> 1) The site was formerly a Beacon gasoline station, but is presently vacant Plans are <br /> underway to construct a new gasoline service station in the future <br /> i <br /> 2.2 Tank Removal <br /> iIt is our understanding that three underground storage tanks (UST's) were removed from <br /> the site in 1988 Hydrocarbon contamination was detected in the soil and groundwater <br /> samples collected following the tank removal, indicating that an unauthorized release of <br /> i hydrocarbons had occurred The soil was allowed to aerate for more than a year, and the <br /> tank cavity remained open Assessment of the extent of contamination was subsequently <br /> i ordered by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division <br /> (PHS/EHD) <br /> i2.3 Initial Assessment <br /> Three groundwater monitoring wells were installed by Geological Technics of Modesto, <br /> iCalifornia (Figure 2) Soil and groundwater samples were collected, and laboratory analyses <br /> Cwbpwl Audu Servxe lee 1 <br /> Svw rt.Be.ms OILY4-9u641 8 <br /> i <br />
