Hazelton Ave. P.O., Eox 2009
Stockton, ca. 95201
Y
Dear Laurie, REE: 595 E. llth Street, Tracy, Ca.
f
After evaluation of costs from three contractors who sumitted bids for tank
removal as well as for filling in place with slurry, we have come to :the
conclusion that the costs of closure either way will not vary significantly.
Therefore, it looks as if at this time the most practical method would be
to remove and dispose of all 5 tanks. . I.
The bids range from 16 to 24 thousand if everything goes well and there are no
problems. All contractors leave the back door open on additional costs. The
big problem is where is the funds going to come from to do the job. :If there
for these t of projects that we"
h have been appropriated ype
e some funds which
tap, we can, probably get the job done within 3-4 months. Since some of my tax
dollars have gone into cleaning up sights for others I feel we should be in
line for some reciprocation and financial help at this time. i
If another meeting is necessary to help solve some of the financial problems
we would be willing to participate. We need to explore government grants,
i low interest or no interest loans etc. We feel we are the victim ofcircwm-
} stances and laws passed with no regard for small people who have worked all
their lives to try and make things a little better and not be a burden to
3 anyone as we grow older. The costs that are being forced on us exceed the
relm of what one should expect of good government. The possibility exists
that the enforcement of these laws could break us financially, make us lose
the property and put us on welfare. At that time the government canisupport ...
us. Just this week we have been notified by one of our tenents that;he is
closing his business. This loss of income only compounds our financial
problem. Getting into the property for a long term investment was done with
a very low down payment. . This made the payments very large.
We are not opposed to something fair. All the costs of testing etc., on
ground and tanks that have been empty for 3 years is far from fair. .We are
not responsible for what is in the ground. We did not put it there if any-
thing in fact is there. ,
1
We have discussed this matter with Assemblyman Patrick Johnston in the past.
I am sending a copy of this letter to him. r
Sincerely, F
1
Jack W.
