There were 28,
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHg) and 230 ug/I of Benzene in
the groundwater samples from MW-3. Groundwater samples from MW-9 had
46,000 ug/I of TPHg and 850 ug/I of Benzene. PHS-EHD and the CVRWQCB
have concluded that these levels of contamination require remediation
(contaminant reduction).
Wright Environmental Services' "Additional Soil and Groundwater Site
Assessment and Proposed Cleanup Approach" dataY June 15, 2001, discussed
three options that could be used at this site to reduce the groundwater petroleum
contamination. Wright Environmental requested "approval of the recommended
work tasks in Option 1 or direction to employ alternative remedies..': Wright
Environmental was to prepare a work plan with a time schedule and budget costs
of the anticipated task completion after comment from PHS-EHD.
PHS-EHD did not comment on the report because after several phone
conversations with Wright Environmental, PHS-EHD was under the impression
that either a complete Corrective Action Plan (CAP) or a request for No Further
Action as detailed in Appendix B of the Tri-Regional Guidelines was going to be
submitted. After phone conversations with the responsible parry contact, Janice
E. Brown, PHS-EHD understands that direction from our agency is necessary.
' Prior to selecting corrective action for this site, your consultant must evaluate at
i
least two alternatives (options) for cost and the probability (feasibility) that the
option could attain the desired goal (reduction of contaminant levels). Using
l the responsible party is to
II language from the California Code of Regulations,.
conduct a feasibility study to evaluate alternatives for remedying the
i contamination and implement the most cost-effective corrective action.
II A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
