Phone: (209)4W342D Construction # Engineering i R December 9, 1999 moved Project No 4090-P ❑Xp�ved with C WgM: See AA11Nft ❑Dtsapproved See Remarks Cox and Cox Remarks P O Box 1046 Tracy, California 9378 Re: Additional Soil and Groundwater Site —.B -r------- Site at 595 East 11th Street, Tracy, CA Appproval of these pians extends only to that Dear Mr cox, whish Is shown and described hereon but does not authorize or approve any omission or deviation of requirements of State laws or W right Environmental Services, Inc kWright) has prL ppaared tTiisa wo kplar on behalf of Mr Elroy Cox {jsoperty owner) for the above referenced site The proposed work is in response to a Ietter dated November 29, 1999 from the San Joaquin Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS EHD) for additional site assessment This work is being done to address locally elevated residual contaminants on-site, specifically in the immediate vicinities of Wells MW-3 and MW-9 Previous site assessment activities have mapped the dissolved plume and the former underground tank sources have been removed and quarterly monitoring sampling with reports are ongoing at the site Scope of Work The technical approach to this project is to build upon the previous work Up to eight exploratory borings will be placed at the locations shown on Figure 1 This approach will allow for a rapid reconnaissance of the plume configuration extent The data from these borings will be used to judge contaminant extent and evaluating feasibility of additional cleanup Field Methods Exploratory Borings Eight exploratory borings will be drilled at the locations shown on Figure 1 Drilling and well installation permits will be secured from PHS EHD, and a utility clearance will be performed prior to doing the field work The boreholes will be drilled with GeoProbe truck mounted drilling equipment All drilling equipment and sampling tools will be cleaned prior to arriving, and before leaving the site The probe will b e advanced collecting continuous cores of soil in each borehole The sampler will then be retrieved and dissembled, and the soil filled acetate liner will be sealed with Teflon paper or foil and plastic endcaps, labeled, logged onto chain-of-custody forms and place in a chilled ice chest Soil sample intervals retained for chemical analysis will be cut from the liners at depths of suspected contaminant presence The boreholes will be logged using the Unified Soil Classification System under the supervision of a registered geologist Additional lithologic information will b e collected to describe the subsurface geology The samples will be collected at five- 67 E 10th Street .
