EVAX Project B239-02 April 7, 1992
1
SCOPE OF WORK
The EVAX investigation consisted of the following tasks: 1) Well
Installation, 2) Groundwater Sampling Event, 3) Laboratory Analyses, 4)
1 Well Elevation Survey, and 5) Report Preparation.
WELL INSTALLATION
Well Permit
1 The 3 groundwater monitoring wells were designated ,MW-1 through MW-3,
respectively. Prior to well installation, EVAX submitted a workplan to
and secured a well permit from the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division. The well permit is presented
in Appendix A. EVAX also prepared a Site Safety Plan which described
the basic safety guidelines for the proposed field work. Field
personnel were briefed on the Site Safety Plan and a copy was available
for reference. Underground Services Alert was notified to locate
public underground utility lines.
Well Drillers
i Under contract with EVAX, Spectrum Exploration, Inc. (Spectrum: C-57
• 515662) of Stockton, California installed the groundwater monitoring
wells on March 12, 1992. A California Registered Geologist for EVAX
directed the well installation procedure. The 3 wells were installed
in an area identified by the soil gas survey as encompassing
hydrocarbon impacted soils. MW-1 and MW-2 were installed near the
I north perimeter of the site, and MW-3 was installed as close as
possible to the north rim of the pit of the former fuel USTs (Site
Plan, Figure 2) .
Spectrum used a truck mounted, Mobile CME-55 drill rig equipped with
continuous flight, hollow stem augers to drill the boring of each well .
I The augers were each of approximately 6-inch inside diameter and steam
cleaned prior to use to avoid cross-contamination.
-2-
