Following subjective evaluation, each well will be purged of at least 4
well volumes using a pre-cleaned submersible pump. After the water
level in the well recovers to at least 80% of the static level , and
groundwater parameters (Ph, conductivity and temperature) stabilize, a
water sample will be taken using the Teflon bailer. Water from the
bailer will be transferred into standard 40-m1 glass vials containing
hydrochloric acid preservative. Vials will be promptly sealed with
Teflon lined caps, placed on ice storage, and promptly transported to a
state-certified laboratory for analysis. Chain of custody protocol
will be initiated in the field and followed throughout the handling of
samples.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Water samples will be submitted to Carter Analytical Laboratory Inc.
(License No. 1661) of Campbell California. Samples will each be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 5030/8015, and for benzene
(B) , toluene (T) , ethylbenzene (E) , and total xylenes (X) by EPA Method
8020/602.
SOIL CUTTINGS AND WELL WATER
Soil cuttings from the borings will be placed in an enclosure of
plastic sheeting and stored at the site. Water resulting from well
installation, development and sampling will be stored on-site in 55-
gallon capacity, waste-liquid type steel drums and each drum will be
labeled as to its contents. Upon receiving the analytical results of
soil and water samples, EVAX will advise Darryl Christensen and Jack
Vaughn on proper disposal options for soils and water in accordance
with SJCEHD and RWQCB guidelines.
REPORT
Well installation, sampling procedures, analytical results, and
investigation results will be presented in a final report, prepared by
a registered professional . With the approval of Messrs. Darryl
Christensen and Jack Vaughn, a copy of the report will be issued to
SJCEHD and RWQCB. The report will also address recommendations about
further site investigation and remediation.
i '
