WORK PLAN FOR INSTALLATION OF GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELLS AT MR. ED'S
MUFFLER SHOP 595 EAST 11TH STREET, TRACY,
CALIFORNIA (EVAX PROJECT NO. 8239.01)
SCOPE AND PURPOSE
EVAX Technologies, Inc. (EVAX) proposes to install 3 monitoring wells
at Mr Ed's Muffler Shop, 595 East 11th Street, Tracy, California.
Messrs. Darryl Christensen and Jack Vaughn, owners of the property,
have retained EVAX to install the monitoring wells. MW-1, MW-2 and MW-
3, will be constructed for the purpose of evaluating possible impact of
groundwater by petroleum hydrocarbon products.
SITE CONDITIONS
The site is located at 595 _East 11th Street in Tracy, San Joaquin
County, California. The -"shallow-groundwater level is currently at a
depth of approximately 11 feet below ground surface. The attached Site
Plan, Figure 1 shows pertinent features of the site.
In January 1990, 4 underground storage tanks (USTs) that were used to
. §tore gasoline -were_-excavated and removed from the -site. Laboratory
analysis of soil and groundwater samples taken from the tank excavation
at the time, indicated the presence of soils impacted by gasoline
products.
WELL PERMITS
EVAX will secure well permits from the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Division (SJCEHO) and follow Regional Water Quality Control
Board (RWQCB) guidelines for installation and sampling of groundwater
monitoring wells. In addition, EVAX will examine public files at the
SJCEHD to review files on the site. Prior to- well installation, -EVAX
will -prepare a Site Safety- Plan, which describes -the general safety
guidelines for the proposed work. Field personnel will be briefed on
the Site Safety Plan and a copy will be available at the site for
reference. EVAX will also notify Underground Service Alert to locate
and mark underground public utility lines.
•
