GROUND ZERO Art.Ot'SIS, INC,
1714 Main Street
EsWw,California 95320-1927
Telephone:(x09)838-9888
Fars mile:(209)838-9853 Q
May 8, 2002
Mr. Sam Savig
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department 'f
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Souza II LLC, 612 West 11a`Street, Tracy, California
Site Corte 1283
Dear Mr. Savig:
I am writing to memorialize our telephone conversation last week regarding your letter dated April 18,
2002 wherein you requested a workplan to further investigate the extent of soil and groundwater
contamination at the subject site.
As we discussed, Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (Ground Zero) feels it is premature to initiate additional
drilling based upon a single round of groundwater sampling and analysis. As you know, a certain
amount of "smearing" of contamination during drilling can result in low levels of petroleum
hydrocarbon constituents in the initial groundwater sample collected after well development.
Therefore as we discussed, Ground Zero proposes to collect confirmation groundwater samples from
site wells as soon as possible to confirm groundwater conditions beneath the site. A summary report
will be prepared to present the results and to include recommendations for additional investigation, if
appropriate. The summary report will also include the results of a sensitive receptor and conduit
survey as you requested. Ground Zero will submit a report as soon as possible upon completion of
field activities, but in no case later than July 15, 2002.
None feet fiee to mcffi -, at-(2"
Respectfully,
Ground Zero Analysis, Inc.
V—W,
John P.
