San Joaquin County
Dear Ms. Thayer:
Pursuant to your September 17, 1991 letter, we have
forwarded to you under separate cover the Summary Report Ground
Water Monitoring dated October 8, 1991 regarding the above
referenced property.
We draw your attention to paragraph 4 . 0 of that report, page
4 , which addresses your concerns regarding the status of the
operation of the soil vapor extraction system. As a result of
conversations with your predecessor, William Crooks, it was
determined that given the infrequent finding of detectable
hydrocarbon contamination in the soil samples, a soil vapor
extraction system was neither necessary nor cost effective.
With respect to your concern regarding Monitoring well
("MW") 6, please see page 5 of the October 8, 1991 report which
explains the status. For your information, MW 6 was only
installed because of the impending widening of Tracy Boulevard
pursuant to the Tracy Boulevard project. This widening would
have destroyed MW 5 and, therefore, MW 6 was necessary to
establish a monitoring point in a northeast direction. To date,
the City of Tracy has not widened Tracy Boulevard and MW 5 is
continuing to be used as an active Monitoring Well. Until the
City actually paves over MW 5, MW 6 is unnecessary and redundant.
17840-183/11/a:Tha7er.1tr
