The purpose of this investigation was to <br /> assess the site for possible ground water and/or soil contamination. These wells <br /> were installed May 5 and May 6, 1988; under a permit issued by San Joaquin County <br /> Health Department. <br /> SECTION 1.1 <br /> LOCATION <br /> Desert Petroleum Service Station #787, a Mobil Station, is located at 950 11th <br /> Street, Tracy, San Joaquin County, California, in Sec. 29; T2S; R5E; MDB&M at <br /> approximately 50 feet above mean sea lo:el, and in Assessor's book 231, parcel <br /> number 09-02 (see figure 1, 2 & 3). <br /> SECTION 1.2 <br /> PREVIOUS WORK <br /> Walton Engineering was contracted by Desert Petroleum Inc.to: 1. Remove four <br /> underground storage tanks (1 regular gasoline, 1 unleaded gasoline, 1 super <br /> unleaded gasoline and 1 waste oil), from the Mobil station. 2. Install three <br /> underground fuel storage tanks along with new fiber trenching, piping, pump <br /> dispensers, etc. 3. Completely remodel and upgrade the station. Tank removal <br /> and spoiled soil excavation"was accomplished April 19, 1988. Upon discovery of <br /> gasoline type odors during the excavation and tank removal the San Joaquin <br /> County Health inspector elected to have Walton Engineering cease construction of <br /> the Desert Petroleum Service Station until further assessment was accomplished. <br /> Sampling of water exposed by the excavation, of the removed soil, andof the <br /> undisturbed soil was performed by Western Geo-Engineers under the supervision of <br /> San Joaquin County Health inspector with A "Chain of Custody" delivery of the <br /> samples to Eureka Laboratories of Sacramento, California for certified laboratory <br /> analysis (See figure 413 Sample Locations, Tables 2 &3 Eureka Laboratory results, <br /> Appendix J, tank pull sample report and Appendix B Eureka Analysis Reports). <br /> Desert Petroleum contracted Walton Engineering and Western Geo- Engineers to <br /> perform the necessary assessments. <br /> page 1 <br />
