vrr
a
r
B
r
- 1
CLOSURE 32, 03-25-93
PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED INFORMATION FOR SITE CLOSUREE FEB&UARY 25
1991.
Western Geo-Engineers followed the Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of
Underground Tank Sito.s (T-RBSRFPE&TOUTS) , August 10, 1990, page
9-CASE #2-No Further Action Required and page 21-TA13LE #3,
Section 11 Closures.
Appendix F, addresses the conditions needed to be met for
consideration of site closure:
CONCLUSIONS
1. Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylenes have been
y below detectiion limits for all wells (MW1, MW2 and MT43)
! since the July 5, 1988 sampling.
2. The most recent varification sampling of soil and ground
water shows the soil and ground water beneath this site
to be free of gasoline range hydrocarbons and the ground
water beneath this site to be free of lead.
3. Over-excavation of the tank field and waste oil tank
area removed the contaminated soil.
4.. The limited ground water contamination found beneath the
tank field and at monitor well MW1 was remediated by
evaporation and/or dilution.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Based upon the above conclusions this site should be
considered as "closed" for Desert Petroleum Inc.
2. once site closure is granted, the existing onsite .
monitor wells should be destroyed, to prevent any risk
to the ground water from the ongoing retail of gasoline
at the present service station facility on site.
TIME FRAME
Due to the unusual circumstance of Desert Petroleum's situation,
ie. Bankruptcy Court controlled escrow and pending sale of
property, an immediate decision needs to be made concerning this
---property.--- p -moneys-generated
A- ortion-of-the --from-the-sale--of-this----------------
property maybe distributed to other properties that are in need
of remedial investigations and/or actions.
s
page 3
