i
WESTERN GEO-ENGINEERS
SECTION 4.0
WELL RECONNAISSANCE
A review of existing wells was undertaken by Western Geo-Engineers to locate and
categorize existing wells within approximately a one mile radius of the site. Figure 6
shows the site, well locations and the areal limit of the well survey. Table 1 is the
key to figure 6 and shows the wells owner and usage. Verbal cc mmunications with
Tracy Water Works engineers indicated that a municipal well located southeast of
the site (upgradient) may have a faulty annular seal (site#13 on figure 6 and table 1).
SECTION 4.1
BENEFICIAL USES OF GROUNDWATER
Ground water in the Tracy area is suitiable for industrial, agricultural and domestic
usage. According to Tracy Water Works engineers water for domestic use is
supplied from depths greater than 400 feet, which is below the Corcoran Clay
Member of the Tulare Formation. This water is considered good quality for
i
domestic use, although it is high in mineral concentrations.
i
Total dissolved solids range from 500 to 600 ppm and Boron ranges from 0.4 ppm In
the eastern wells to 1.6 ppm in the wells to the west.
There is no record of water being produced from the shallow aquifer found at
r approximately the 12 foot depth at this site, in the Tracy area.
a
page 12
9
