G -
WESTERN GEO-ENGINEERS
SECT'ON 5.3
WELL DEVELOPMENT
Following well completion, each well -las developed to remove fine grained
material and to improve hydraulic conductivity with the formation. The initial
development occurred on May 7. 1953. Prior to development water
measurements were conducted for each well. The wells were then developed in
order of the cleanest to dirtiest as indicated by vapor measurement during the
exploratory borings ( 2, 3 and 9 respectively). Each well was first swabbed in six
foot intervals starting at the base (29-23' casing depth, 23-17' casing depth, then
the 17-11' casing depth) and working the swabbing tool up the screen until all of it
had been swabbed. Immediately after swabbing the well a 1 114" diameter hose
was placed into the well near the bottom of the screen and water was pumped
from the wells, using a centrifugal pump, until clear water appeared. The water was
pumped into 55 gallon drums which were to be held on site until laboratory
results indicated disposal procedure. After pumping approximately 50 gallons of
water from each well it was apparent that more development was needed (one
casino volume is approximately 3 gallons and well volume (sand pack plus casing) is
approximately 21 gallons).
Airangemen; was made with San Joaquin County Health Dept. and the City of
Tracy Fire Marshall for the placement of a 5000 gallon open tank on the site for
osal. The tank
holding all water produced by the well deve
I development ofment rthe wells Qccurred at that
was delivered on May 10, 1983 and fine p
time using the above stated procedures. The water collected in 55 gallon
drums from development on May 7 was transferred to the holding tank at that
time.
SECTION 5.4
,I
SURVEYING
Prior to well development water level measurements were obtained from each well,
and the top of the casings surveyed for elevations. The Datum for elevations is the
approximate location of the 50 foot contour taken from U.S.G.S. topo map of the
Tracy Ouad. photorevised 1931. Once traffic boxes are installed (to protect the
monitor wells) this same Datum will be used to re- survey the new top of casing
elevations.
i
I
page 17
i
i
Ij
