Box 1601
Oxnard, CA 93032
I
Re: Station #787
950 lith St.
Tracy, CA 95376
Attention: W. .John Rutherford
ental Dept.
t.p
This letter is in regards to our conversation on April 22, 1968.,
as to the Environmental Assessm+ t concerning the above
referenced station, located in cy, CA. Walton Engineering -
will be contracted, inconjuncti.,n with western Geo-Engineers to
se of evaluation being requested by the San
perform the first pha
Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department.
e It is our understanding that contamination-was discovered on
r=:
April 20, 1988, after the three (3) gasoline product tar
were
excavated and removed. Soil and Groundwater same es were
taken
led dissolved gasoline ine
in the tank hole area, which revea
constituents in the water. It is not knov"at this tim whether
the water encountered at 15,-0,, feet is a perch table or a large
I vol►ane aquifer. Further assessment must be made to determine the
characterization of this underlying contamination beneath this
property.
Walton Engineering proposes to evaluate this site on a Step Phase
Approach.
phase 1: Desert Petroleum will begin pumping water from the open
tank hole through a well installed at the corner of the
xcavation. By doing this operation it will determine what the
e
xcavage capabilities are on the tank hole well. After a period
recharof time 'water well sraiples will be field screened to see if
dissolved product :.till exists. If field screen method shows
clean, samples will be obtained for certified lab analysis. Ouir
next operation will be to obtain monitoring well
tOschedurmits frole theSan t
Joaquin County, Environmental Health Dept.,
and placement of (3) three monitoring wells on the site.(See
attachment A, "Wegeop)
It is our opinion that the monitoring wells are necessary to
determine if product recovery through the tank hole well is
making an effect oq the out areas surrounding the excavation.
Also by installing the wells it will allow on going monitoring of F
w--er gradients and periodic sar:,?ling, to show ar, effects on c?le
;- site.
i '1 k tiler• lnn: Wr51 4 irrr n •nen CA 95694 14161119-1RHH
1
.y
a
