Eleventh St. SPIE CODE: 1401
Tracy, California
This letter is being sent to summarize the issues discussed at a meeting held at San
Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
between PHSI.EHD staff Diane Hinson and Linda Turkatte, Western Geo-Engineers
representative George Converse and you on Thursday, February 11, 1993. !!
The additional verification soil and groundwater sampling needed at this site to address It
the concerns noted in a letter dated April 18, 1991 from PHSJEHD to you was discussed '
at the meeting.
The soil samples obtained in 1988 from the south and southeast ends of the former tank
pit area indicate this area has not been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons. Therefore,
only the areas to the north-northeast and to the northwest.of the former tank pit need
further investigation to verify that these areas have not been impacted by petroleum
hydrocarbons.
As discussed at the meeting, a soil boring in each of these locations would be sufficient
for this verification purpose.
A monitoring well in the identified downgradient direction, to the northeast of the former
tank pit area at this site, is needed to verify the quality of the groundwater in this area.
Also discussed at the meeting, a monitoring well constructed in the north-northeast soil
boring would be sufficient to monitor this area of concern.
The groundwatt r samples obtained for verification analysis will, in addition to total
petroleum hydrocarbons, benzene, toNene, ethylbenzene and Xylene, be analyzed for
soIuble lead. This test will be sufficient to verify that the groundwater quality has not
been degraded by lead.
A Dion or San Jar gtdn Counry Health Cue k"Ices
